A little A for the Q, part I

Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Sunday, September 14th, 2008

Although some of this might be wayyyy more then you ever wanted to know about me …. here are my answers from the 1st round of questions! (Thanks for participating folks – ya’ll sure asked some great questions!)

From Becca:

What do your girls do that absolutely drives you nuts?
How about the hubs?
How about Shannon? Oh now that one I really want to know, sorry Shannon, you know I love you! ;-)
What do I do that annoys you?

My girls are typical GIRLS: they can be adorable one minute and fighting like enemies the next. That drives me nuts! So does finding clothes STILL FOLDED back in the dirty laundry because someone was too lazy to put it away and by some sheer cosmic force (because no one ever claims responsibility for it happening) it winds up back in the hamper. Arrrggghhh! It’s stuff like that – messy rooms (meaning wall to wall STUFF on the floors), last minute homework not finished, last minute school papers to sign…. yada, yada.

My hubby is the keeper of my heart and I love him dearly but…. he is a man. He can veg out in front of a ball game on tv for HOURS (with the surround sound, no doubt!). He can sleep til nearly noon. He can be anal about how his clothes are folded but have multiple piles of papers sitting around. He can totally blow it on our anniversary – but then try hard to make it up. Or – on the rare occasions that he beats me home from work – it drives me bonkers to find him sitting in the recliner reading the paper – like he doesn’t have a care in the world! I always have to come rushing in to start dinner – NEVER getting to sit and read the paper until everyone else is taken care of…. because you do KNOW that the first words out of their mouths when I walk in are: *What’s for dinner?* You know… just normal typical stuff. Boring, huh?

Shannon and I have a wonderful friendship built on a solid foundation of mutual respect and honesty. There are not many things that she does that drive me nuts… except for the fact that she routinely kicks my arse in Scrabble! After much consideration, I can only think of a few little things: For anyone that knows her from her blog – you know she has a HUGE heart and spends much of her time in the service of others. She rarely ever says *no* to someone that needs something – it just is not in HER to say NO. She is very quick to jump in and lend a hand… which is a great way to be, don’t get me wrong. But – she rarely ever will ask for help if SHE needs it. She tries to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders sometimes. That makes me worry about her, probably more than it makes me nuts.  And, she won’t cut her herself any slack. We can be comparing notes on what we’ve eaten in a days time (we’re each others’ accountability partner for Weight Watchers) and she’ll say, “I had a TERRIBLE points day. I was a bad bad girl.”

I’ll say, “Oh me too! I had a BROWNIE with CHOCOLATE icing tonight!”

She’ll say,“Oh that’s not too bad. I had a WORSE day!”

I’ll say, “What did you eat?”

She’ll say, “Five tootsie rolls and a jolly rancher.” WHAT? There is no way that is WORSE then a brownie with icing! She just applies harder standards to herself than to me or anyone else! She is quick to tell me not to worry, I’ll do better the next day but then berates herself for doing the same thing but not as bad! lol  Now that drives me nuts! But, I still love you SweetPea. :)

From Shannon:

1. If you HAD to choose between giving up coffee or giving up your computer time (ALL of it) FOREVER, which would you choose?

If I HAD to choose – I guess I’d give up coffee. I would cry BUCKETS of tears though and be like a limp dishrag most of the time but…. it would certainly be better then WWW-Withdrawals!

2. What is one item you should probably throw away but probably never will?

Puppy and Monkey. :)

3. What do you consider your greatest strength and greatest weakness?

Greatest strength: Faith, loyalty and capacity to love.  Greatest weakness: Grudge-holding.

From Anonymous: (Even though I know who asked this by the email – I will keep it to myself, since that is the way you commented, k?)

Do you have any regrets and if yes, what are they?

Absolutely, who doesn’t? Let’s see… eating that piece of birthday cake, fear of facing some hard truths, allowing others to get under my skin when I KNOW I shouldn’t.

If you could go back and live one day of your life over again – what day would it be?

My wedding day. I would like to say the birth of my daughters, but each was unique and different and I couldn’t pick one over the other.

This seems like it is getting toooo long so I’ll save the rest of the questions for another day. K? :)

Don’t forget to scroll down for details of our new Name that…. contest! I look forward to seeing who’s playing!

How fun was this? I loved guessing what your answers would be and then reading to see if I was correct. And you were WAY too sweet to me and I love you my friend! :)

Thanks for sharing a little. I love what you said about Shannon. I worry about her too and her inability to say NO.

Can’t wait for the next round of questions and answers.

I wonder if Shannon thought they said Go when the teacher was teaching the word No and she just goes and goes and goes, when she should be saying no? :-)

    Love your answers! And I love you too, Shannon! {{{Hugs}}}
