A little A for the Q, part II

Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

A short while back, I asked for any questions. Anything you wanted to ask…. I got rather long-winded on part I of answers and decided to break it up into two. So, here is the rest for now. Feel free to ask anything further if you wish. :)

From White Hot Magik:

Metallica or NKOTB?

Geez. What choices. If those are the ONLY choices, I’d say NKOTB.

Mouthwash, important, really? Even if you brush and floss?

Absolutely. As long as it’s an antibacterial mouthwash. Otherwise, it’s a total waste of time, in my opinion.

From Jean:

Is there anything in your life that you really wish had not happened? And I know you wouldn’t change your life or kids or anything.. but would you do it all the same if you knew then what you know now? What’s the ONE thing (sorry, only one) that you MOST love about your husband?
and.. what’s the ONE thing you most love about yourself?

Wow. Tall order Jean. Yes, there are definitely things that I wish had never happened – some more life-altering then others. But, it is what it is…. the challenge is learning from our past and moving on.

There are lots of things I would do differently, I imagine. I would not have racked up credit card debt (which is thankfully ALL paid off now – but it took real EFFORT to get it paid off), I would not have worried so much about looking bad when I was 25 pounds thinner than I am now. And I would make different decisions regarding college and career choices – I think. I love what I do, don’t get me wrong…. but sometimes I wish I’d not stopped when I did and had gone on to dental school. Or something more.

Hmmm. The one thing I love MOST about my husband? That is truly difficult…. I love so much about him…. so I’ll pick…. his hands. :)

And about ME???? Goodness gracious…. what a question! How about…. I love my teeth. :P

From Thotlady: (left in my comments a few weeks ago… I forgot to reply then so thought I would NOW!)

Hey, I have a dental question for you. When my co-worker gets her teeth cleaned she says her dentist uses laser cleaning. Is this a good thing? I am thinking of having my teeth cleaned the same way. She says it’s less intrusive.

Well now…. I believe myself to be well informed of new trends in dentistry but… this is unknown to me. In the context of a *laser cleaning* anyway. Now, there are brilliant things happening with laser dentistry – and a great deal of success with laser debridement of periodontal disease tissues. But, not for the average routine prophylaxis or *cleaning*. Now, in my state – a Registered Dental Hygienist is not legally allowed to provide laser debridement therapies so, it truly is not something I’ve done. But, I’ll certainly look into it further though – see if I missed something!

Thanks for the questions! Got any more?

OK – So here is a follow up question. Why don’t you go back to dental school now since hubby is done with his schooling? Obviously it is not too late.

    Well…. lots of reasons.

    1) Hubby is a few classes away from completing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. It has taken a great deal of time for him to do this – time away from the family. I don’t begrudge him doing it – I support it wholeheartedly…. but – it wouldn’t be a good time for me to start something.
    2) There aren’t any dental schools within a hundred miles of where we live.
    3) I’m still paying off my school loans from before! Sheesh… I can’t go deeper into debt right now.
    4) I don’t know, after all these years as a hygienist – that I would enjoy what a dentist does… quite honestly.

And those are just my first thoughts…. off the top of my head.

Thanks again for the reminder on the “mug shots.” :) I nearly forgot!

I like your Q&A answers! I didn’t know that mouthwash was all that important for me. I buy my kids the flouride mouthwash… because they drink bottled water and I don’t know if there is flouride in it and I figured they need it. Basically, I thought mouthwash was just for fresh breath!
