Bernie, you da man!

So…. you might have noticed that we’re animal lovers in this family. My parents had a pet shop for nearly 18 years, meaning my sisters and I grew up with a BUNCH of animals around us. My husband didn’t. But… luckily, he is willing to compromise… which means we share our home with two dogs and a cat.
And now, temporarily…. Bernard.
Suki is moving to Florida and can’t take this little guy with her… so he is on his way back to his previous owner, TerriAnne, after a few days hanging out with us. We picked him up this past weekend and have enjoyed watching him … well…. just sit there. He doesn’t actually DO much unless it’s time to eat. Then… he is quite the little rambunctious hunter. He’s kind of a cutie, actually… I never really thought I’d have one of these guys but… I could get used to him. (I don’t think I could get used to his dinner, though. Keep reading… you’ll see ‘em.) The girls would LOVE for him to stay… but Terri is picking him up after work today.
Meet Bernard:
Handsome fella huh?
Can you see them? Those little icky crickets would be…. Bernard’s dinner.
Bernie’s dinner is …. ummmm… eating dinner.
(a piece of raw potato… who knew crickets ate that?)
Guess who else thinks Bernie is a handsome dude? Lillie was about to bust a gut to get a sniff of him…. he just gave her the evil eye, not remotely scared. What a brave little green guy he is!
Night-night kisses for Bernie. You cool dude you.

Shannonon 12 Aug 2008 at 6:01 am 1Eww, eww, eww, and EWWW! So glad he is at your house, not mine!
I don’t think I could sleep with that in my house- seriously. I am such a big baby aren’t I?
Come on.. at least he doesn’t have accidents in the floor like some dogs I know.
Ummm.. well… yes, you ARE! lol Really, he’s cute… if you like little and green.
Stacyon 12 Aug 2008 at 9:16 am 2How cool. What a cute visitor you have there. Just a warning though…Do Not let dinner get loose in the house. You will hear it everywhere forever! LOL
LOL yeah… good point! Crickets always manage to get chatty at bedtime, don’t they?
Beccaon 12 Aug 2008 at 9:52 am 3Nope, not in my house, not for a nano second! Love you to bits, but that is so not my cup of tea! Creepy!
Creepy? Nah… not Bernie. The crickets are ABSOLUTELY creepy but not the lizard. He’s actually kind of cute!
Thotladyon 12 Aug 2008 at 3:21 pm 4Is that one of those bearded dragons?
Yep… bearded Bernie
megon 12 Aug 2008 at 5:27 pm 5She’s not kissing him- she’s taste-testing him
The crickets would drive me insane after a day :-O
They sooo remind me of Beebo’s noisemaker she’s been sleeping with since BIRTH!
Jenon 12 Aug 2008 at 6:43 pm 6Matt raised green anoles for a while. They ate crickets too.
They got loose and the cat ate one and the other was barely alive when I found it a week after it’s escape. They were sure cute. Made me sad though, that they met their demise while in our care. (They should have stayed in their aquarium with the heat lamp and steady supply of food and water!)
Matt has a rat now… he went from reptiles to rodents.
I think I prefer the reptiles to the rodents actually.

I really miss him soooooooo much!
