Camping 101
Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008
Saturday morning was beautiful. Not too hot, not too cold – just perfect. The girls went out to play before 10am, while I enjoyed a little quiet. After a while, I glanced out the window and saw this pile of stuff:
Now, I have been even more scatter-brained these past two weeks then normal…. but I’m relatively SURE that wasn’t there yesterday!
What in the WORLD?
Walking out to investigate further – here’s what we see from the other side.
And then…. the sound of *snickering* becomes quite loud.
A peek inside reveals these two nutbobs!
Those crazy girls.
Evidently, they were thinking about camping. (Brilliant deduction huh?)
It wasn’t long before talk of pulling the tent out of the garage began in earnest.
They began to beg their Daddy to set up the tent. Or… to let THEM set up the tent.
He didn’t exactly say YES, nor did he quite say NO either.
Mid-afternoon, I see this out the window:
Oh my.
And what’s this?
My hubby, out there helping.
Oh good gracious.
So…. just WHO pray tell is sleeping out there??
I was busy babysitting *buckethead* all weekend, and that tent was NOT big enough for that e-collar and the clutzy dog attached to it, so that left my darling hubby out with the girls.
He went quite willingly but he’s not exactly into *roughing it* though…
He ran an extension cord out there so that he could blow up the air mattress.
And charge his phone, in case I needed to call him.
You know.
Call him.
In the YARD.
On the PHONE.
Instead of walking out there.
Isn’t that funny?
(He’s so precious… he didn’t want me to have to walk out there in the dark if I needed him. Awww.)
They looked like they were sleeping pretty good, huh?
So, I was in the house, all alone. And WIDE-stinkin- AWAKE until 3 am because it was TOO quiet… while my family slept peacefully outside in a tent.
How bizarre is that?

Guinieon 07 Oct 2008 at 7:28 am 1LOL When I was growing up, my sister and I used to do that in the summer too. We would beg and plead for my dad to set up the tent in the yard for us…and we’d sleep out there. FUN times! They’re making memories!

Shannonon 07 Oct 2008 at 7:43 am 2I just love that your hubby used the blow up mattress. He’s a hoot! And of course I love the pics of your two nutbobs! They are too funny!
Stacyon 07 Oct 2008 at 8:24 am 3Crazy girls! But glad they had fun. It is too cold in the evening here to sleep out this time of year. Glad they got one more time in before winter.
TRACIEon 07 Oct 2008 at 8:59 am 4Aw… great father/daugher bonding time!
That’s funny you couldn’t sleep. My hubby’s loud breathing (when he sleeps), that drives me crazy when i’m laying there awake is what I missed when he went on a mission trip this summer.!
Beeboon 07 Oct 2008 at 10:00 am 5It was hilarious…. I had a great time and we have all ready started to beg him to put it up again…
Luby Dobbieon 07 Oct 2008 at 10:32 am 6We had a bunch of fun and we so wanted to sleep out there again but then dad said we could not sleep out there again .By the way that pile of stuff was every thing that we could use.It was very hot out there and the wood door was locked, so was the back door. So we could not go inside so we did what we could do.
I LOVE CAMPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beccaon 07 Oct 2008 at 10:45 am 7Too cute! He is quite the geeky man, extension cord and air mattress and all!
megon 07 Oct 2008 at 1:02 pm 8The part that cracked me up was Hubby would take his cell phone “in case you need to call him”- boys & their toys
Doryon 07 Oct 2008 at 1:13 pm 9Just to clarify…. the doors weren’t locked. The screen door latches funny so that it IS very hard to open sometimes but it wasn’t really locked.
I had fussed at the girls for messing with the doors, making the dogs bark and wake up my Hubby. So they were just afraid to try them again. Sheesh.
