Chaos in motion

Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Hi there. Remember me? The slightly nutty and ever forgetful one? Ringing any bells?

You might have noticed that I’ve been sort of MIA this week. Two weekends in a row of being out of town means crazy weekdays, trying to catch up with all that I didn’t get done on the weekend.

Not to mention the fact that I am sooo stinkin tired! I’m an eight-hour-a-night girl and anything less really kicks my backside and takes me forever to get caught up.

Those of you on my Facebook or Twitter already heard me mention that my beautiful Suki surprised me last Thursday by driving in from Florida for Easter weekend. She pulled in the driveway right behind me as I got home from work – believe me, I was SHOCKED…. but absolutely THRILLED. She had called Mr. Lucky beforehand to let him in on the surprise (sneaky devil didn’t let on at ALL). It was great to see her and so thoughtful and fun of her to plan the big surprise. :)

On a much more serious note, the father of a co-worker died last Thursday morning. Having just recently walked that road a few months ago when my dad died, I felt compelled to stay in town for the visitation and funeral while my husband and girls went on ahead to my MILs house. (On a positive note, that meant more time I got to stay home and hang out with Suki – because she wasn’t able to go over there with us.) Standing in line at the funeral home to speak to the family was very emotional for me – at times I thought I might just fall apart and be unable to speak when it was my turn. I kept bowing my head and praying for strength to say the right words – or any words, for that matter. I knew that it didn’t really matter what I said, it was the fact that I was there, showing my support, that really mattered.

After the funeral on Saturday, I made the two hour trip to my MILs, arriving at nearly 9pm. It was an overly quick trip – church Sunday morning, an Easter egg hunt for the kids, visiting with my mom and sister, and my husbands family. Whew! Since we had two cars over there, it meant we both had to drive home. :( That part STUNK. I was sooo sleepy that my husband and I talked on the phone the last hour of the drive to keep me awake.

What’s sad……… that is probably the longest conversation we’ve had in weeks because of all the chaos going on in our lives. Ridiculous, huh? I’m ready for things to slow down.

Rest??? Oh… did I not mention that we are GOING again this weekend? I love going and seeing everyone, (and hopefully the guys will make some SERIOUS progress on my MILs laundry room this weekend) but it sure makes me tired.
