I think this goes along with intrinsic vs extrinsic values.

The concept of intrinsic value has been characterized in terms of the value that something has “in itself,” or “for its own sake,” or “as such,” or “in its own right.”

We all have to live with ourselves everyday. You can’t get away from yourself. Therefore, I like to live my life as guilt free as I can.
