I got my first cell phone after a terrible/learning experience at age 20! I worked as a nurse tech (glorified CNA while getting my RN degree) on a 3-11 shift. I left work in a crazy rainstorm. I had only worked there a week or so before this happened so I hadn't found more than one route to get home. The route that I knew was somewhat flooded but the car before me got through it!!!! Why shouldn't I- WRONG!!! My wonderful, beautiful '88 Ford Thunderbird (that sat low to the ground) flooded it's engines. I therefore had to step out of the car in knee deep water and run to the nearest parking lot in darkness. I ran to the emergency phone in the middle of the parking lot-no answer. I am now soaked in powder blue scrubs and running towards the hospital entrance sobbing (it's scary in an inner-city at midnight-ish).

I get into the hospital and call my boyfriend (aka my hubby now) and my parents. My dad later confided in me that at one point on their way to get me they weren't sure if they would make it through some of the high water even in their F150.

Needless to say I believe the next day I signed paperwork for a state-of-the art Brick (I mean cell phone).

I now have a Nokia 6301 (I just had to replace my Magenta Motorola Razor that I had for 2 years) I love my new phone!

Wow... how scary! That's the best part of cell phones - we use them for fun all the time but the ability to call someone if you end up stranded is WONDERFUL and much needed for women especially!

I don't remember my first phone. I've only had one for the last maybe 3 years...believe it or not! lol The one I have now is a blue Katana. (Blue's my favorite color.)

Oh, and hey, I'm not on your Blogroll! Should I be offended? ;o) lol

Whoopsie Daisy! How'd that happen???? You're there NOW. K? But... just so you know... you WERE on my Bloglines reader... which is how I've been doing most of my blog reading lately because I've been too busy for words. Does that redeem me a little? :)

I got my first cell phone in 2000. Not sure what kind it was, but we got it "only for emergencies." I don't remember talking on it - ever.

We dropped our cell plan and went without a cell phone from 2002-2005. In 2005, I got a blue LG flip phone. I was commuting an hour each way to work, so I felt like I needed it in case of car trouble. Again, I didn't use it all that much.

Now, I have a cute little pink LG flip phone. I use it as little as possible - usually, one call a day on my home from work to say hello to Travis. I come no where close to using my minutes/texts each month!

I had a boyfriend with a bag phone back in the day... and yeah, I thought he was pretty cool & important to have one. :)

Yeah, we first got phones when I was pregnant and it was for *emergencies*... that rule doesn't stick all these years later. ;)

In 1992 I had a motorola bag phone. I remember those things being so big they had to have a carrying strap on them. We got it cause we lived so far out in the sticks with 3 little kids and didn't have a home phone. Now I have an Iphone. Hubby bought it for me last christmas. This way when we travel I can still keep up with everyones blogs. We sure have come a long long way haven't we?
Giggles

Oh yes... we surely have! Glad to see you by... I'd been missing you!
