Conversation in the car

Passing a “Sold” sign on a corner lot with nothing but a bunch of trees on it, all brown and dead-looking as we neared the end of the long winter season. Luby looked over, noticed the sign and exclaimed, “SOLD??? Ewwww…. who would buy a bunch of old dead trees???”
I said, “Honey, it’s not the trees, but the land that the trees are living on that was sold.”
She said, “Oh. Well … I wondered WHO in the world would buy those butt-ugly trees! I mean, WHAT would you DO with them??”
The kid cracks me UP. And, yes, she evidently learned the word “butt-ugly” from her mother. Shamey on me.
