I am an early riser. I love the quietness of the house before everyone wakes up, and the way the early morning light streams in the windows. It is my favorite time of day. Of course, on weekdays, I don’t have time to enjoy it much – between hopping on the treadmill for my daily torture (hehe) and then a mad dash to get showered and out of the house.

But Saturday and Sunday mornings are all mine. The dog and I are programmed to wake about 5:15am – with both of our bladders near bursting. (Yeah, that was probably too much information, huh?)

I’ve noticed something the past few mornings that is driving me bonkers!

When I go out to take Lillie out, it is very quiet outside, except for the happy chirping birds. But the minute we come back in the house, I hear this brrrrrrrr-brrrrrrrrr-brrrrrrrrrr-brrrrrrrrrr noise. (It actually reminds me of the noise the predator made in the movie “Predator” from many years ago) I’ve quietly searched out all the windows to find the noisemaker but can’t find it at all. I’ve tried sneaking back outside but the moment I do, the noise stops.

I think it must be a woodpecker, which I’ve only seen a few times in my life and never around this house. Hopefully it’s not busily making holes in the eaves. If I could only find the little stinker to know for sure, I’d feel better.

Being outsmarted by a bird stinks!
