Five things I’ve learned this week

Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Friday, July 25th, 2008

Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

I’ve learned some very valuable lessons this week ….. some the hard way, some by sheer accident.

  1. A true friend loves you. Through and through. Regardless of any moments of weakness, moments of anger, moments of temporary lapses of judgment and despite all of one’s faults and shortcomings.
  2. Actions speak louder then words. Always.
  3. Despite all the years of my life that I have been an *avoider* of confrontation - to finally face those things really does not kill me. It does not make me wither to the ground, as I suspected it would. It actually can be done (without lightening striking) … and I’ve learned that it feels SO MUCH BETTER once you do it. For all the parties involved. And…. ultimately, it draws you closer than you were before.
  4. Admitting you can’t handle it alone and asking for help… or prayer… is not a sign of weakness.
  5. Never, EVER, let the dog throw up on the carpet. Because regardless of how much you clean it afterwards… you can’t get rid of that funky smell. :(

    Great lessons learned, my friend!

Okay…this is weird! My weimie threw up no less than three times today. It’s how I started my day. Cleaning up dog puke. I am with you on the carpet thing. It’s just gross!

I hope you have a great weekend! Love ya!

Valuable lessons, no matter how tough at the time :-S
BTW- #5, the same thing goes for kids & copious amounts of ramen noodles :-P

I can see most of the spots where my dogs threw up. It is very difficult to get out the stain. Even after I have the carpet cleaned, weeks later the residue comes working its way to the surface.

All those lessons, it sounds like you might have been in school.
