Vegas is fun! I am not much of a gambler but had a terrific time when I visited. Not sure if you have been there before or not… if you haven’t, make sure you go by and watch the Bellagio fountains ~ they are set to music and gorgeous!

@Jen – I was there a few years ago for a different dental hygiene meeting… saw a few sights, including the fountains (which were GREAT). This trip will be jam packed with continuing education – I doubt I’ll even leave the hotel! It’s definitely a *working* trip. (And a little blogging, I’m sure!)

You can always gamble in the airport! ;-) Remember what happens in Vegas makes it here to the blog! :-)

Vegas – You bite! I am so jealous. I am not a gambler, but I so want to go and see a show!

Maybe we could have our next little gathering there? I hear the rooms are pretty cheap, it’s the shows that cost a fortune.

But I am afraid I would definitely have to bring the hubs on a trip like that.

@ Becca – What happens in Vegas makes it to the blog??? Ya think? ;)

@Stacy – I’ve been once before and managed to take in a few shows by buying last minute *half price* tickets. You can’t be as picky if you do that but it’s an affordable way to see some stuff. My hubby has never been either and would love to go sometime so maybe we could someday do a *couples* trip one of these days. LV is not one of my favorite places though…I’d rather go back to NYC if it was up to me! :)

CE whatever, there’s always time for the casino in Vegas! It’s the city that never sleeps…. Enjoy!

It’s funny… I went to Vegas for continuing ed in 2001.

I went with the doc I worked for at the time and he would show up for the sign-in each morning and then go back to his room and sleep all day. (Because he was tired from the nightlife!)

I was expected to “take notes” and sit in on the lecture sessions. After the second day, as soon as he left, I left and meandered the strip. It was the same thing each morning following. We were there 5 days and didn’t learn a single thing!

Thank goodness he never asked for my “notes!” :)

@Jen – WOW! Are you serious?? The courses at this meeting give out the course code (needed to get your CE credits) during the last few minutes of the class. You have to sit there to get them.

    And… I’m a bit of a dental hygiene nerd… I love learning what’s new out there. :P

All they needed was our license # and our name on the sign in sheet. I got my CEU certificate at the end of the last day right before we checked out. I figured that the doc must have wanted to take the trip as a business write-off instead of a true learning opportunity…? Even though I didn’t attend much of the course, the course manual we received on day one was a great resource when we got back to the office.

I am not sure how he expected me to be in class all day and then hit the shows and casinos with him all night anyway. We were at a show in the Stratosphere and the waitress lady had a camera and told us to squeeze together for a photo. He and I both looked at each other and told her “um, we’re not a couple.” She said “whatever! Squeeze together!” So we have one photo of us sitting too close for comfort with pained looks on our faces!

Also, we walked everywhere and I did not take sensible shoes – I expected to be in business dress for the conference, not walking miles and miles of the Vegas strip. Did I ever have blisters!
