Grounded

Well hello there!! I’ve been neglecting my blog for several days…. more than usual, that’s for sure. I’ve been pretty darn busy though, traveling to two different events over the course of 5 days – and putting about 700 miles on my van. Whew! I’m just darn near tuckered out!
First, I worked a half day on Wednesday and then left with Beebo and two of her friends for the Jr. Beta Convention. There were several buses going with all the students but I prefer to drive my own vehicle (sooooo not a bus girl am I). Of course, the girls wanted to ride with me instead of the icky old bus – which was just fine with me! Makes for less confusion on the other end when we all arrive together.
Now, picture over 5000 students (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders) plus sponsors, teachers, chaperones, and assorted others all milling around several hotels and the convention center – each with a purpose for being there. Some students participate in the Group Talent or Songfest, while others participate in areas of Arts and Crafts, Scrapbooking, Photography, Living Literature, or taking tests in several areas, such as Math or Science. It’s a lot of herding your charges to where they need to be, on time, and properly dressed.
Whew.
Our school took up both the 19th and the 20th floors of our hotel – so we were all together and not disturbing anyone else with all the chatter in the hallways. My girls were sweethearts, getting along well and happy to just be there. We had lots of fun, even if we didn’t get much sleep! (I love the reflection of the room in the window… you can see a little bit of everything, outside and in!)
Beebo was participating in Songfest:
They performed on stage twice, once on Thursday and again on Friday. They came in 3rd, statewide. Which is wonderful!! Although I know they wanted to be first so that they could participate in the National Beta Convention this summer. (Only each state’s 1st place winner gets to attend the national meeting.)
Right after I took the above photo while they were warming up, I walked to the big wall of windows behind them and took the following photo. Some of my dear blog friends (Shannon, Stacy, Jen, Meg and Bek) should recognize this place:
The girls and I did manage to sneak away long enough for some lunch there!
Great fun….and then I cameĀ home and napped and then slept all night and left out early Saturday morning for part two of my trips! More on that later.

And I do remember that place in the picture – fondly! As a matter of fact, I drank out of my Old Spaghetti Factory glass last night at suppertime! I loved, loved, loved that town and that weekend!
