Or ….. it should be.

I am forever doing something to embarrass myself. That’s obviously not any big revelation because I tell on myself all the time, huh? But, let’s face it: I know I am prone to doing stupid things so sometimes I try to be extra careful to NOT do it. Whatever it might turn out to be in any given situation.

So on Tuesday when I noticed one of my favorite male patients’ name on the schedule, I was excited. Thrilled. Overjoyed. Etc, etc. He is a real sweetheart – loves his wife and his sons and constantly talks about them. I find that such an attractive trait in a man…. one that loves his family and is not embarrassed to show it. Not to mention, he has great teeth and such a charming smile that lights up his eyes and reveals his dimples.

Now, we all  know that I love my husband and I’m not looking for another man – but I can’t help but find this man attractive. He’s a handsome guy. Plain and simple.

I always try to be normal when he’s there – which means not act like a giddy schoolgirl (although part of me wants to) and not flirt or behave in any way out of the ordinary. I don’t want him to know that I secretly adore him, obviously. That would be bad and I just am not going there.

Just before I seated this patient, I put a xylitol mint in my mouth. (You know, fresh breath is important. )

When I first get a patient in the dental chair, I review their medical history, take radiographs, etc, before I actually lean the chair back and begin working. While I was sitting there, talking with him – my mint somehow magically flopped out of my mouth and landed in my lap!

I looked down at it.

He looked down at it.

I said, “Whoops. I dropped my mint.” Duh. As if he didn’t notice.

He laughed. I laughed.

I turned back to the computer as my face turned 57 shades of red.

Color me stupid.
