Luby’s room, part II

Once the walls were all prepared, the painting began. Pretty much from the start of discussions about redoing her room, Luby was sure what color(s) she wanted in her room.
Now, I really enjoy painting. There is something so satisfying about seeing the BIG changes with so little effort. I was eager to get going on it as soon as I could. Of course, I didn’t think aobut how sore my arms were from using the steamer the day before, so I didn’t get the painting done as quickly as I wanted to.
The girls and I went to Lowe’s to get the paint last weekend. While there, they talked me into buying one of these little tools, which I thought would be a piece of junk, but I got it anyway. I was super surprised by how easy it made doing the edges.
I wasn’t dressed in color appropriate attire on purpose, just sort of happened. I didn’t even notice until I saw the pictures later that I matched!
The edger tool helped tremendously meeting these two colors at the corner. Whew! I’d have been in a pickle free-handing it by then, my arms were so tired.
It’s hard to tell what this is…. it’s the corner where two walls meet. The room will be pink, with one brown accent wall.
A little better perspective here, but it’s blotchy – the first coat.
As I was painting, I was so not sure about this brown accent wall. Didn’t they go out of style, like in the 90′s? But, Luby was adamant about wanting it. We have plans to spruce it up just a little… (which I’ll show you when I get it finished). And the window treatment is pink, which will pull it together more.
We started looking around for bedding to match the wall colors she had chosen. I knew there were lots and lots of options out there in these colors, which we’ve seen over the months leading up to actually starting on her room. After much discussion, we finally ordered something we agreed on:
Isn’t it adorable? Luby really likes it. (And I LOVE the prices at Target! Very reasonable.)
Almost all put back together now… I’ll show you as soon as I can!
