Old Lady Syd
Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Thursday, November 5th, 2009
In January 1997, a precious five week old Jack Russell came to live with us. We named her Sydney and called her Syd Viscious when she was a wee pup, into everything. She is as adorable as ever, too complacent to be called Syd Viscious any longer … but age is taking its toll on her body. Not only is her face getting grey, but her little powerful legs are starting to fail her as arthritis plagues her joints. She can successfully go down a set of stairs without too much trouble, but coming up is another thing altogether.
This is what happens when the dogs go outside. She just stands there and waits. And waits. And waits for someone to come carry her back up. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s because she can’t get up them or if she just doesn’t want to bother now that she knows she can hitch a ride in someones arms. She is ridiculously smart, after all.

I’ve told you about when it raining I have to hold a umbrella over Gidget’s head so she can do her business. I know that’s sad, but she will just sit on the back steps and cry, cause she doesn’t want to get her little head wet.

If I could get someone to carry me instead of having to walk up the stairs- I totally would. Syd is a smart cookie!

Can’t imagine life without a dog. They add so much spice to life.

Stacyon 05 Nov 2009 at 12:23 pm 5Perhaps it is a little of both. She is such a cutie.
Beccaon 05 Nov 2009 at 12:26 pm 6Definitely both…
