Once again….

… I have to say “Thank you Lord for NOT giving me boys!”

Last night as I watched (and heard from inside our hotel room) a bunch of 6th grade boys running up and down the halls, being ….. well …… boys, I was reminded of the time many years ago when I was working in the nursery at church. I was the only worker on this one morning because the other one was sick. I had a roomful of children and was doing just fine keeping them all happy and dry-bottomed…. all except for this one three year old boy who spent most of his time getting into anything and everything.

During the thirty seconds I turned my back to change the diaper on a newborn, he took it upon himself to climb on top of the Lego table. When I looked over, he was standing in the basket in the center of the table, arms outstretched, yelling “Ta-Da!!

What a climber that kid was! He was high energy and into everything. I remember saying a quick, “Thank you Lord for giving me girls because You knew I could NOT handle that!” :P

Last night, I was thinking the same thing again. Makes me wonder what Mr. Lucky was like when he was in the 6th grade…? Do you know what your husband was like when he was a kid?

Yes. I hear stories all the time about how his Star Wars action figures never lasted very long…mainly because they usually found themselves in some sort of fire or explosion. *sigh* And I do have a boy…and, yeah, it’s a totally different ballgame! lol

I swear that my husband was the geeky “Dennis The Menace” but his mother swears he was an angel. I wonder if she isn’t just a more than a little biased or forgetting what he was like since he hasn’t been in her care in 30 years? ;-)

Yes I do, his parents talk about what he was like growing up often. About what you would expect if you met him today.

He was born an old soul.

My MIL tells stories on Chris all the time- he was ADHD & apparently never slept until I met him; some of her tales were hair-raising :-P
But you know, my boys were much less exhausting then my daughter- they were adventureous but sensible (for the most part), but Jess was (and still is) too impulsive & reckless for anyone’s good (as witnessed by my white hair!)

I hear stories of Matt and his 2 brothers–oh my. I just pray that if/when we have children God only gives me what I can handle :)

I love having boys. I feel the same way you do, that God knew I couldn’t handle girls…lol I love the busy little boy stage and stepping on blocks and cars. I could never handle the teenage drama.

    How different we are…lol

Sure hope you are having a great time.

My mother in law told me that she suspects my husband had ADHD, long before it was being diagnosed in the mainstream. I have a hard time buying that – he is so quiet and reserved now…

And as far as raising boys/girls, I will never know what it is like to raise a little girl. I wanted a girl so badly when I was pregnant with Garrett. Now, however, I am glad to have boys. Again, God knew what He was doing! :) Boys don’t worry about their hair, what they wear, they aren’t concerned with much except what’s for dinner. No mood swings, no drama. I’ll take my stinky, ornery boys and like it! :)

How fun was that? ….. cracked me up hearing about your husbands as boys! Thanks so much for sharing! :)

Ah come on… boys are wonderful! I wouldn’t even know what to do with a girl and all that drama… I am fairly positive that my husband was as unruly and devilish as his three sons were/are even though his mother claims he was the sweetest child ever. Seriously have my doubts on THAT…
