Oopsie Daisy

I’ve had one project after another over the past few weeks. Well, actually, I’m an all or nothing kind of gal so I’ve had more like 97 projects going at one time…. but that’s beside the point.
One of the projects I’ve been tackling is giving a face-lift to my Granny’s old kitchen table and chairs that she gave me a few years before she passed away. Because it was hers, I love it… and can overlook the fact that it really belongs in the 1960s. Besides, a little paint is helping bring it into our current decade.
Over the years, I’ve had to have the chairs repaired numerous times because the backs keep breaking off. So I decided I might just keep the table and slowly replace the chairs with ones that are more sturdy. Actually, that idea popped in my head one day when I saw these two at our local Goodwill:

I couldn’t pass them up for $5.00! (For BOTH… can you imagine?) So I brought them home and after they sat in the garage for an appropriate length of time while I procrastinated (as is my nature), I finally decided to tackle them.
I found it amusing to find this message under one of them:
Instructors’ OB office
And the little white tag? It says:
Vanderbilt University. DO NOT REMOVE ??
Oopsie daisy!! Someone didn’t listen very well huh? Or else I wouldn’t have found this at my Goodwill.
I covered the seat bottom after plenty of sanding:
And proceeded with painting. This is where the BIG oopsie daisy happened:
Ummm yeah…. that is my patio table, shattered under the weight of two chairs. OOPSIE DAISY!!!!
Who’d a thunk it?
The chairs turned out nice anyway. I love that a little paint and elbow grease can take something old and make it brand new. And now I get a new patio table!

They look terrific!

As far as the patio table, this wasn’t a sly attempt at getting that new patio set you wanted was it? (j/k Mr. Lucky)
