Our Loss is Heaven’s gain

Posted by on Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

I’ve sat here, looking at this blank page for hours.

I have so many words running around in my head but they seem to be struggling to bubble out right now.

It’s unusual for me to be at a loss for words, huh? But I have a good reason:  On Saturday, June 12th…. a sweet and precious soul left this earth. And not just one soul, but two.

My dear friend of 30+ years, Angie, (who I’ve blogged about before – especially on my old blog…some of you might remember) and  her husband David were in a head-on motorcycle vs. SUV collision. Both were thrown from the motorcycle, losing their helmets, and sadly………..both died.

Between the two of them, they had three teenage children. And as if the tragedy of losing both your parents in one fell swoop wasn’t enough… two of their kids were following behind them in a car and SAW the WHOLE thing.

I am just filled with grief and helplessness. Angie and I didn’t see each other often (since we live in different parts of the state), but we kept in contact via texting, email and Facebook fairly often. You know those friends that you always pick up right where you left off with, even after months or years have passed? That was our friendship… we were always connected.

I am 44 years old and have been struggling with my Dad’s death almost two years ago…. I can’t imagine how a 16, 18, and 19 year old are going to handle losing BOTH parents. Especially when they’ll always have those images in their minds.

I posted the link to a news story about the accident on my Facebook page. If you want to see it, it’s here: WLEX18

My family and I will be attending visitation tonight and the funeral tomorrow. I ask one thing of you:  Hug the ones you love today, k? We just never know what’s around the bend for us.

I am still praying for peace for all of you. I know how much fun you and Angie had together. I do remember her from your old blog and the stories you told.

Be strong and look toward Him for support.

And sometimes talking about those we lost helps tremendously. Perhaps you can dig out some of those stories from the old blog and share them with us again.

    Love you my friend!

I can’t imagine watching that.. Those poor kids. And I’m so sorry you lost one of your good friends. That’s bad enough, without having to feel so bad for the children. I pray you have the peace only God can give.. and those kids, also. I agree with Stacy, and it would be great for you to share some memories of her (and them) with us, to soothe your heart.
    Big hugs,
