Static sucks

Have you even noticed how children often seem unaffected by the state of appearance of their clothing? For the most part, they don’t mind wrinkled shirts or holey jeans. Or jeans that were piled in the floor after being worn can still be fair game to wear again. (Oh wait… am I describing the kids or me?)
The other day Luby came to give me a good-bye kiss before they left for school. She had hurriedly put on her coat and the sleeves of her shirt were all bunched up at the shoulders. I said, “Eww, doesn’t that bug you?” as I was reaching into her coat sleeve to pull down that lump of fabric. She said, “No, I didn’t even feel it.” Being a kid, she hadn’t even noticed her sleeves feeling all lumped up.
Later that day as I was pulling clothes out of the dryer to fold, I found a sock clinging to the inside of a shirt. As I pulled it off, I thought again of Luby and had a funny flashback.
When I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, I very clearly remember sitting in class and reaching around to scratch my arm and feeling a *lump* in my sweater. I reached my hand inside to see what it was making the lump. I pulled out a sock! I remember glancing around to see who saw me and stuffing it in my pocket, embarrassed.
Thank God it wasn’t a pair of panties. I might have died right then and there.

Stacyon 26 Jan 2009 at 7:02 am 2LOL – Speaking of Dryer Sheets, I had one of those caught in my pant leg at work one time. I feel the same as Dory, thank goodness it wasn’t panties!
Guinieon 26 Jan 2009 at 7:28 am 3I was going to relay a story just like Stacy’s. I was actually walking down the hallway at work to pick up our mail and it was slowly working its way out of the bottom of my pant leg. I just happened to glance down and see it flapping against the top of my shoe. How funny! lol
Beccaon 26 Jan 2009 at 11:46 am 4Too funny! I have to remind Mitch to throw one in the dryer when he “helps” me with laundry…hey I had to buy a pair of long pants…it is cold here in the morning!
megon 26 Jan 2009 at 11:53 am 5Dryer sheets are the worst- I pulled one out of the back of my pantyhose once (no, I don’t open my eyes when I get dressed if I can help it ;-P )
Jenon 26 Jan 2009 at 6:06 pm 6My work scrubs are notorious for having dryer sheets in the legs… happens pretty often! I would just croak if I pulled panties out of a sleeve or leg of my pants!

Yes, even tension is a little bit important, but not so much when you are first learning- get the movements down, then work on balancing tension.
