Sucked into the Twilight
Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Saturday, December 27th, 2008
Finally, after months of hearing about the Twilight hoopla and thinking I had no interest whatsover in reading the much-talked-about series, I have been officially sucked in. When my darling oldest daug
hter Suki told me she LOVED them – I thought, “REALLY?” She has a very wide and diverse taste in reading material – but everything she’s read and recommended to me, I have loved as well. So, based on her recommendation, I thought… “Hmmmm, well…. maybe I should read it.”
And then, the very next day, I discovered oneĀ of the docs at work reading it as well. She ooh’ed and ahh’ed about it …. again, I was surprised by 1) the fact that she was reading it and 2) the fact that she was LOVING it. I mean, really…. all the 14 year old girls are loving it so I think, somewhere along the way I got the notion that it was geared for a much younger crowd. Right after that, I found out that Shannon was reading it, Becca was reading it, and so was Brenda. Ok…. are you kidding me?
I could not be left OUT!
Luby got me the first book in the series for Christmas and I started it yesterday. I am exactly 110 pages in and already, I feel myself getting a classic case of what Stephen King calls the “got-to-knows”. He describes this phenomena in Misery, when the reader has just GOT TO KNOW what is going to happen next. Of course, the got-to-knows generally hit me full force around bed time, keeping me reading til all hours of the morning or until exhaustion just forces my eyes shut.
So far, it’s good. I’m loving it. (That sounds like a McD’s commercial, huh?)
I have the second book (New Moon) waiting in the wings (a gift from my darlin’ hubby). I’ll be getting books three and four shortly – I thought I’d wait until they were released in paperback but a quick Google search tells me that won’t be quite soon enough for me!
If you don’t hear from me …. you’ll know it’s because I have my nose buried in a good book. ![]()

Tracieon 27 Dec 2008 at 10:38 am 1Tink is reading too! She’s almost ready for the 2nd. I didn’t realize it was a series when I got her the first one. LOL
Doryon 27 Dec 2008 at 3:07 pm 2Ruh roh Tracie… you might want to be planning on getting the other three!
Jenon 27 Dec 2008 at 6:49 pm 3My 40 year old sister in law was raving about it a couple of months ago… She told me she would loan me the series when she sees me next time.
I am a nosy person, so you can bet I will read them to see what the fuss is all about!
Beccaon 27 Dec 2008 at 6:59 pm 4I just finished the first, about to start the second then my eye flared up, so I am stuck on audio books, but then again, I am listening to Friday Night Knitting Club, which did you get yet? I bought Knit Two and Comfort Food! Now get my eye to clear up and I am good to read again! The only paperback in the series I had is the first book all the rest are hardcovers.
Hugs,

Stacyon 28 Dec 2008 at 7:40 pm 6OK – I will have to get the series now. I was avoiding it – thinking it was a fad or teen thing.
There goes my Christmas $$ for the series. LOL
Thotladyon 29 Dec 2008 at 1:19 pm 7I have read “Twilight” also. I liked it but haven’t read the other three yet. Too busy I guess. I did go see the movie though.
Belated Merry Christmas.
