Thursday Thirteen 1
Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Thursday, January 8th, 2009
Here it is, the first Thursday of January 2009,
(well, with the exception of last week – but that was a holiday so it doesn’t count!)
so I thought I’d just number them this year.
First up, this week:
Thirteen Questions I need YOU to answer!
(I’ll come back and answer for myself later)
- If you had unlimited funds and time, name THREE places you would visit this year.
- Now, name THREE people you’d take with you on these trips.
- Name ONE essential item that you’d take with you on each trip.
- If you’re married, did you include the *obey* part in your wedding vows? Why or why not? And, if you’re not married, do you plan to include it or not when you do get married?
- Are you a morning person or a night owl?
- What do you put on first – your socks or your pants?
- What would you do if your pants accidentally split out in the seat during the work day?
- How many pairs of shoes do you own? (go ahead, we’ll wait while you count!)
- What do you decide first when getting dressed for the day – which shoes you want to wear on a particular day and then find an outfit to match or pick clothes first and then the shoes? (I imagine this question is more a chick-thing than a for a man…. but you never know!)
- Who is the first person you think of when something GREAT happens in your life?
- Who is the first person you think of when something AWFUL happens in your life?
- If you had to give up something that you LOVE from your diet for the rest of your life – what would it be and how would you decide on that item?
- If you were sent overseas for a month of *training* for your job (all expenses paid but your spouse or significant other could NOT go with you) would you be excited, (at least a little) or would you dread it? Would you think of it as an adventure or would you as a *punishment* for having to go in the first place?

Beccaon 08 Jan 2009 at 12:26 pm 11. If you had unlimited funds and time, name THREE places you would visit this year.
Hawaii….doing..
Australia…
All of my friends, like you..
2. Now, name THREE people you’d take with you on these trips.
Gee are you fishing?
You of course!
Shannon
My husband!
3. Name ONE essential item that you’d take with you on each trip.
My IPod!
4. If you’re married, did you include the *obey* part in your wedding vows? Why or why not? And, if you’re not married, do you plan to include it or not when you do get married?
NO! Obey is for children. We agree, we argue, we disagree, but we aren’t into the you will obey me stuff.
5. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Depends on what is involved. During the week, a morning person because I have to be, on the weekends I am a night owl because I know that we get to sleep in.
6. What do you put on first – your socks or your pants?
Underwear, then socks, then pants!
7. What would you do if your pants accidentally split out in the seat during the work day?
Call my husband and ask, no demand that he go and get me another pair out of the closet!
8. How many pairs of shoes do you own? (go ahead, we’ll wait while you count!)
More than my husband approves of, but not enough for me!
Probably more than 20 pairs, mostly sneakers, Crocs, and slides.
9. What do you decide first when getting dressed for the day – which shoes you want to wear on a particular day and then find an outfit to match or pick clothes first and then the shoes? (I imagine this question is more a chick-thing than a for a man…. but you never know!)
Clothes first. I am all about comfort.
10. Who is the first person you think of when something GREAT happens in your life?
My husband, then my really, really good friends
11. Who is the first person you think of when something AWFUL happens in your life?
My husband, then my really, really good friends
12. If you had to give up something that you LOVE from your diet for the rest of your life – what would it be and how would you decide on that item?
Potato Chips, and just go cold turkey, if they aren’t here, I can’t eat them, right.
13. If you were sent overseas for a month of *training* for your job (all expenses paid but your spouse or significant other could NOT go with you) would you be excited, (at least a little) or would you dread it? Would you think of it as an adventure or would you as a *punishment* for having to go in the first place?
At first I would be sad because spouse could not go, then busy because I would be working then if I had time, I would get a chance to explore a new place, maybe make friends with coworkers outside the norm.
Doryon 08 Jan 2009 at 12:49 pm 2Great answers Becca. So… when are we leaving again?
Rebekahon 08 Jan 2009 at 1:12 pm 31.If you had unlimited funds and time, name THREE places you would visit this year:
London, Hawaii, Australia
2.Now, name THREE people you’d take with you on these trips:
My Hubby, and our 2 future children! (we hope in the next year to start a family)
3.Name ONE essential item that you’d take with you on each trip: POWER CONVERTER!
4.If you’re married, did you include the *obey* part in your wedding vows? Why or why not? And, if you’re not married, do you plan to include it or not when you do get married?
NO- We used the word submit and centered our whole service around submission to God and each other because many people we knew/know have a messed up understanding of submission.
5.Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Night owl mostly unless I have a schedule that forces me to be a morning person.
6.What do you put on first – your socks or your pants?
PANTS
7.What would you do if your pants accidentally split out in the seat during the work day? It has! pull your shirt down and change during the lunch hour!
8.How many pairs of shoes do you own? (go ahead, we’ll wait while you count!) only about 20! I am so behind!
9.What do you decide first when getting dressed for the day – which shoes you want to wear on a particular day and then find an outfit to match or pick clothes first and then the shoes? (I imagine this question is more a chick-thing than a for a man…. but you never know!)
Am I working or not? Working-scrubs/not working- what is the weather? /Outfit and then shoes- unless it’s snowing or snow on the ground that means snow boots!
10.Who is the first person you think of when something GREAT happens in your life? My hubby and then my sisters and mom!
11.Who is the first person you think of when something AWFUL happens in your life? My hubby and then my mom and sisters!
12.If you had to give up something that you LOVE from your diet for the rest of your life – what would it be and how would you decide on that item?
I don’t know-I refuse to give anything up just eating in moderation.
13.If you were sent overseas for a month of *training* for your job (all expenses paid but your spouse or significant other could NOT go with you) would you be excited, (at least a little) or would you dread it? Would you think of it as an adventure or would you as a *punishment* for having to go in the first place?
I would not be excited- I have lived 2.5 hrs away from Matt for a month and we didn’t even make it 5 days without one of us driving to see the other. I would have to think of it as an adventure.
Jenon 08 Jan 2009 at 1:39 pm 41. Alaska, Fiji, Ireland
2. Travis, Matt, Garrett OR my mom, Kari, and Kari’s mom.
3. My own pillow
4. Obey? No way. Compromise? You betcha!
5. I don’t know, I like both! (It is all that time in between early mornings and late nights that I get tired of!)
6. Pants first.
7. Put a lab jacket on and hide it til I get home.
8. 16
9. My outfit dictates the shoes… I never decide on an outfit based on the shoes.
10. Travis
11. Travis
12. Hmmm. That’s a tough one. I’d say chips.
13. I would LOVE IT. I love traveling and I am used to traveling alone – Trav is a homebody. We’ve only been on three trips together in 13 years! He is happy to stay home and take care of the kids, pets, and the house while I roam about!
Meganon 08 Jan 2009 at 3:04 pm 5We woke up and the Thursday Thirteen was gone. Will it be back? No one knows. But for now here’s a little spot on the web to bring us all together again. http://www.thursday-13.com
Shannonon 08 Jan 2009 at 6:16 pm 6Okay, let’s see………
1. Hawaii, Alaska, Paris
2. Tony, Madison, Dory (and she could bring Beebo, Luby, and D )
3. Make-up (me without it is SCARY)
4. Yes, we included the word obey in our wedding vows. I am the one that asked for it to be included. Obviously I am in the minority here but I do feel that women are called to be submissive to men (their father’s and husbands and ministers) and that although discussion and compromise are a huge part of all decisions made in our family, my husband is the ultimate authority.
5. Definitely a morning girl.
6. Pants first.
7. Go home and change- unless I had a sweater I could tie around my waist.
8. I plead the 5th……but let’s just say it’s more than I thought when I went to count and less than 75 pairs.
9. I decide the outfit first, then the shoes.
10. Tony and Dory (not necessarily in that order)
11. Dory and Tony (not necessarily in that order)
12. Diet Coke- I’d just sub in Diet Pepsi or Diet Dr. Pepper or some other diet drink but I’m not planning to do that…….EVER. Because Sonic might go out of business if I stopped going there so often.
13. Part of me would dread it but part of me would be excited and see it as an adventure. I’d worry about my family but would enjoy being in a new place and meeting new people.
Jeanon 08 Jan 2009 at 7:12 pm 7Wow.. great post. I love how I can travel around to my friends and get in a better mood!!
1. Seattle, Disney World, Scotland
2. my bf, my bff, my niece. Or no one! I’m a good loner.
3. Oxygen, I guess, or my scooter.
4. Yes, I would.. I totally agree with Shannon’s answer.
5. I CAN be either, but, left to my own devices, I’m a total night owl.
6. pants first
7. I have! Run to surgery and get a pair of scrub pants! Although I do know many ways to fix them to keep going till the end of the day!!
8. Only about 6.. I’m not a shoe person. My aunt is the kind that picks her shoes then her outfit!!LOL
9. Clothes first, then the first shoes I find.
10. my bf, my bff, my family.
11. same as above.
12. Don’t know.. Dr Pepper is the one thing I’d probably die without!!LOL
13. I’d be all kinds of happy!! I don’t see short separations as any big deal.. Yes, I’d miss them, but I’d have so much fun!! And then come back!
Alice Audreyon 08 Jan 2009 at 8:19 pm 8I think I might have to turn this into a whole blog post.
Dory @ Lucky Doritoon 08 Jan 2009 at 9:29 pm 9Ok, finally… my turn!
1. If you had unlimited funds and time, name THREE places you would visit this year.
Italy, Panama, Australia
2. Now, name THREE people you’d take with you on these trips.
I would love to take Suki to Italy, her birthplace. We moved away when she was far too young to remember anything.
I’d take my hubby to both Panama and Australia…and maybe Shannon. If she’d go with us.
3. Name ONE essential item that you’d take with you on each trip.
My phone.
4. If you’re married, did you include the *obey* part in your wedding vows? Why or why not? And, if you’re not married, do you plan to include it or not when you do get married?
(It’s so funny – the only other person that answered similar to me is Shannon….) We did have the word obey in our vows. For exactly the same reasons as Shan listed – my husband is the spiritual leader of our family and will someday be the one standing before the Lord, answering for our family. He gets to have final say in matters of utmost importance… but that doesn’t mean he can order me around. It’s all about submission.
5. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
Morning person, definitely.
6. What do you put on first – your socks or your pants?
Socks
7. What would you do if your pants accidentally split out in the seat during the work day?
I asked this for a reason that I’ll explain another day. I would tie my labcoat around me and run home at first opportunity.
8. How many pairs of shoes do you own? (go ahead, we’ll wait while you count!)
Well, I normally alternate between three pairs (work, walking, casual)…. but I own a BUNCH… some I haven’t even worn in years but can’t bring myself to get rid of them because as soon as I do… I’ll want them again. Right?
9. What do you decide first when getting dressed for the day – which shoes you want to wear on a particular day and then find an outfit to match or pick clothes first and then the shoes? (I imagine this question is more a chick-thing than a for a man…. but you never know!)
I generally decide on the outfit first.
10. Who is the first person you think of when something GREAT happens in your life?
My hubby and Shannon.
11. Who is the first person you think of when something AWFUL happens in your life?
My hubby and Shannon.
12. If you had to give up something that you LOVE from your diet for the rest of your life – what would it be and how would you decide on that item?
I seriously don’t know… I am so praying I never HAVE to make this decision. I think I’d give up chocolate if it meant I got to keep coffee.
13. If you were sent overseas for a month of *training* for your job (all expenses paid but your spouse or significant other could NOT go with you) would you be excited, (at least a little) or would you dread it? Would you think of it as an adventure or would you as a *punishment* for having to go in the first place?
Serious ADVENTURE! I’d miss my family but I would LOVE LOVE LOVE the opportunity to travel!
Thanks for participating everyone!
