Valerie’s Me Meme

Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Saturday, May 24th, 2008

Last March, on our brief outing to Evansville, just moments before we ended up back at the hotel with a sick child, we managed a few moments in Borders Books. I love, love, love bookstores. I could wander for hours picking up books that catch my eye and read the backs of them. Or just running my hand over the spine. Or do nothing but lose myself in the smell of books and ink heavy in the air.

This caught my eye. (Losing It, by Valerie Bertinelli) I had heard all the hub-bub about the book in the media over the past few months as the actress was interviewed but I hadn’t actually seen the book on the shelf. Who in my age range didn’t love her when a kid? I know I did. I thought she was adorable. I sort of regret walking out without purchasing the book, but I’m sure I might be getting it eventually.

I skimmed the insert of pictures in the book (Eddie Van Halen, yeah baby! Me being a big hair band from the 80’s kind of gal) and flipped to the back cover. There is this wonderful little meme type thing on the back, titled: “Me – The Quickie Version”

I was struck by it for some reason, mostly the last line, “Sum up everything you know about life in ten words or less”.

Wow. Think about that for a sec. What a seriously tall order. She handled it beautifully in her answer though. (Her answer was: Love, you always have a choice, exercise, portion control) It’s been on my mind since reading it, wondering how I would answer that same question if asked. I ran across the book at my local Wal-Mart the other day and wrote down the meme from the back cover. Here is my attempt to answer it:

Name: Gina/Dory/Mom/Honey

Age: 42

Height: 5 foot 1 in. If I stand really straight.

Status: Happily married, for the most part.

Weight: Only over my dead body (or yours) will I share this info

Occupation: Mother, Wife, Registered Dental Hygienist

Strengths: Loyalty, Honesty, Faithfulness, Integrity

Faults: Indecisive, Ornery, Disorganized, Scatterbrained, Doormat-tendency

If you were in my house, you’d hear my kids say: Awww Mom!

You will never see me: Pole dance, bungee jump, or climb a mountain.

Favorite meal: Italian and Mexican

Happy or Sad: Happy or sad is a choice, a state of mind. I choose HAPPY whenever I can! Sometimes sad overwhelms me though.

Everything I know in ten words or less: Live life without regret, cherish those you love, walk daily.

Can you answer your own *Me Meme, quickie version*?
