I am here in the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas. I am exhausted and on brain overload and I still have a FULL day of classes to go!! Since I can’t really share a lot right now, for fear of nodding off right here at my computer – I mentally composed a Thursday 13 while I sat in class today of things I have learned this week… let’s see if I can write them out from memory. (Quit laughing… I see you.)

7th Edition

1. I am a sucker for dental products. Seriously…. love love love getting samples to share with my patients (and family and friends). Truth be told, I brought an extra suitcase just for them!

2. The free drinks at the reception, after a LONG day of sitting in class, go absolutely straight to my head.

3. I’m not the only person that wears ugly shoes.

4. I have twice made the mistake of grabbing a divine $4 cup of coffee at Starbucks and then realize I need to use the potty before going back to class. Dumb dumb dumb.

5. My sweet roommate here, a sweet gal from California, taught me how to crochet last night. I love it!! (Although it’s not the prettiest thing in the world… it’s a good practice piece for me though – I took this picture first thing this morning – it’s wayyy bigger now!)

6. Actually filling out the form for door prizes pays off sometimes! I won an iPod shuffle!! Yeah me!!

7. Bringing the leftover aforementioned drink back to my room before writing this blog so that it wouldn’t go to waste was not my brightest idea. I’m such a lightweight. lol

8. I can’t imagine the attraction of gambling. That is such a good thing, I think.

9. I love texting with my sweet friend Shannon and my girls while I’m away. It sure makes me feel closer to them. (I would love texting with Mr. Lucky too… if he was a texter!)

10. I want to set these guys free every time I walk by their tank on the way to the convention center.

11. There are NOT coffee makers in the rooms here. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?????

12. Although I sometimes get discouraged in the daily details of my profession… coming to meetings like this helps me to see the big picture. I can change lives, one patient at a time.

13. I haven’t left this hotel since the shuttle dropped us off on Tuesday. Isn’t that NUTS???? This is Las Vegas, for goodness sake!!
