The package was sitting on my porch, with the words “Happy Mothers Day” handwritten on the outside. I couldn’t imagine what would require such a big flat package, so I eagerly ripped it open, before I even entered the house. Neatly packaged inside, was this gorgeous sunset photo blown up to an 8×10, taken at Fat Point by my daughter.

As I stood looking at it, imaging Suki’s hands on it – the care she took in wrapping it, I couldn’t help but smile to myself.

And then, I found the cd.

A handmade cover, again with the words “Happy Mothers Day”, and inside, was a handwritten list of the songs, special to her – that she chose to share with me.

Some of the titles even came with a “commentary” off to the side of what they mean to her.

I have shed several tears as I’ve listened, hearing the songs with a new ear – as words from her to me.

Thank you Suki.

You’ll never know how much I love you.

I love the gift.

And I love this new place in our relationship that we’re in.
