What a rip off!

Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Hi ya’ll. I’m here, safe and sound in the Windy City.

But… I am really REALLY annoyed with this hotel. I won’t name them but let’s just say their name rhymes with Milton…. I don’t understand WHY in the world when you come to the nicer hotels and pay a whopping $239. a night for your room (in a decent room but come on! Not THAT decent!) they have to be greedy enough to charge you $12.95 a DAY for internet connection when you can stay for $69. at the Travelodge and get internet for FREE?!  Sheer greed, if you ask me!

On the other hand, there is a Dunkin’ Donuts right down the street so… as soon as I get some of that, my disposition might improve a little. Maybe. ;)

Laurel and I found the same thing in Cleveland. We stayed at a nice hotel (Windham) and you had to pay for parking, pay for internet, we couldn’t get a dinner reservation so we didn’t even try for breakfast. Oh yeah and no breakfast bar. However, last year we paid about the same and had all of the above at a smaller name hotel.

I just don’t get it either. GREED!!!!! Is right!

Yep… makes no sense. I’m really NOT happy about it.
    :(

$12.95 a day?! That is outrageous.
I found the same thing when we stayed in DC (though we didn’t pay the rack rate- gotta love hotwire!)- $16 a day for parking & $5.00 for 15 minutes of internet!

    Yep… outrageous, indeed!

Wow that is a lot of money for the internet. Kind of why we got an Aircard/wireless card from AT&T for when we travel. Do you get reimbursed for those expenses?

A friend of mine has one of those and it’s BLOCKED here. Nice, huh?

Reimbursed??? LOL LOL LOL Umm… no, every bit of this is out of my pocket. It’s a small price to pay for learning from some of the best in my field.

Sounds like a rip off to me too!

Oh, how I LOVE Chi-Town! My dad grew up there and we went to visit twice a year when I was a kid. There is so much to see and do! If I were a young, single person without kids and a husband, that’s where I’d be living!

That is a total rip off. Our hotel claimed they had free wifi in OK but it was broken but it was under $100 a night. I would have felt a lot more ripped off if I was in your shoes.
