What a week…. happy and sad

Today we’re checking out of the Marriott Rivercenter and beginning the long drive home. My dogsitter was suddenly invited to go to New York with a friend, leaving on Sunday morning…. so now our drive home has to be a little more hurried than we’d originally thought. I don’t blame the dogsitter – I’d go too if I were her!
All in all, it’s been a fabulous week here in the great state of Texas. I so enjoy my time with Shannon – we could be sitting in the middle of a cow pasture and we’d have a blast! But, let me tell you – it is SUCH a bonus that our daughters have become friends that play well together. This trip was the first time for our husbands to really get together and talk …. I’m so pleased to report that that went VERY well too. WooHoo!
Mr. Lucky has been busy these last few days in his conference, which is truly the event that brought the whole family to Texas. After Shannon and Madison left Thursday, the girls and I have been hanging out at the pool and catching some movies.
By the way, the total movie count is only at 3 this trip – “Up” which all 7 of us went to see last Sunday after church, “Imagine That” and “Night at the Museum 2″ for the girls and I. (Although I did watch “Defiance” on my laptop one morning – which made me cry because it was a violent and yet touching story about WW2.)
I can’t even tell you how heavy my heart feels each and every time Shannon and I say “goodbye” until next time. I have truly been blessed to find such a warm, caring, generous, and genuine friend in her and it pains me to go our separate ways at the end of each trip. The girls were upset too – I kept telling them that what we needed to focus on was the good time we’d had together and be thankful for it …. words that I needed to hear for myself.
Now, I need to get off my duff and finish packing. More when we get home!
