Wintery Wednesday
Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Wednesday, January 28th, 2009
My girls were mightily disappointed when school was called off Tuesday morning because of old man winter bringing us some icy conditions. You know they just boohoo’ed their way back to bed! Yeah, right.
My hubby and I braved the conditions (which really weren’t bad at all) to go to our jobs while I girls snoozed, all warm and snuggly in their beds.
You might remember this lovely purple clematis in the middle of summer…. it looked beautiful again today, although in a very different way.
The ice is beautiful on the trees and bushes….

Except when the weight of the ice causes this to happen:
(I passed this one in a neighbors yard on my way to work.)
It’ll be interesting to see what today brings. Ya’ll pray we don’t lose our power.
Or internet connection.

Chrison 28 Jan 2009 at 6:41 am 1I can take a foot of snow or inches of rain, but I hate any amount of ice. And this has been the iciest winter I can remember. Sorry you got hit. Praying you can stay safe, warm, and connected. And keep the girls away from daytime TV. It used to be fun with all the game shows. Now it’s just stupid judge shows.
Jenon 28 Jan 2009 at 7:36 am 2Ice storms really are beautiful but they can create such havoc. Hope you have electricity, heat, and internet throughout!
Guinieon 28 Jan 2009 at 7:37 am 3Wow! We didn’t get ice here, but softly falling, BIG snowflakes most of the day. Not enough to accumulate, but very pretty!
Shannonon 28 Jan 2009 at 9:05 am 4It is beautiful and I have been and will continue to pray that you do not lose power! Stay warm sweet friend!
megon 28 Jan 2009 at 11:42 am 5I do not miss living in ice-proned areas; certainly is pretty, but what a pain
Doryon 28 Jan 2009 at 12:04 pm 6Yeah, well… I sooo wish I didn’t live here either! lol
That would be yet another mention of moving to the beach …. you know, for my hubby to IGNORE.
Beccaon 28 Jan 2009 at 12:42 pm 7Wow your pictures are beautiful, but please stay safe!
jeankflon 28 Jan 2009 at 1:16 pm 8I can relate… The fire dept just came and got my dad to take him to the ER, cause we can’t get him in there.. Ice sucks!! I’d appreciate any prayers for him..
It’s beautiful, but still sucks.. But.. I have power and internet, so it’s not as bad as it could be..
hugs,
Jean
jeankflon 28 Jan 2009 at 3:19 pm 9LOL He was head of the fire department for many years, the chief adores and respects him and our dept is all first responders and/or nurses. When I called them to let them know we were calling for an ambulance, they came instead and got him and mom into the car and took them to the hospital, so they wouldn’t have to wait while the ambulance negotiated the ice.. They are wonderful neighbors around here..LOL I didn’t think about how weird that sounded!!
hugs,
Jean
Stacyon 28 Jan 2009 at 5:52 pm 10We got ice, then snow, then slushy snow, then snow, then ice, then about 3 more inches of snow. It made for treacherous conditions, but it was so beautiful watching it fall all day.
