Lucky Dorito

When we purchased our split-level home five years ago, we had one large den – in addition to our living room.  We decided to build a wall to make two rooms out of that one large one… a smaller den, plus a bedroom. You might remember in 2008 I posted pics of that bedroom, which we were temporarily using as a den while my husband used the other part for an office. Confused yet? (The office is now the den, after Mr. Lucky finished school this year. And what was the den is back to being a guest room.)

As a matter of fact, if you look at those photos from the link, you’ll see a small portion of brick wall beside the door. Soooo on the other side of that wall we built, in the other part of the once-large room, is an entire brick wall. It was an ugly drab brownish-grey brick.

We used an entire gallon of Kilz primer and another of paint to cover it. Whew. Exhausting!!

We chose a color called “Oatmeal” to paint the other walls. It is a little more brown that I was hoping… but it’s ok. They girls and Mr. Lucky decided the color… I really didn’t care because anything would be an improvement over what we had.

After it was all said and done late Sunday night, with furniture moved back into the room…. my darling weimaraner Lillie walked into the room and I realized…. we painted the room the same color as the dog!!!!

Not that you can really tell from the photo but…. seriously. We did!

I want to paint the tables that are in there… and get a rug. And hang stuff on the walls. But…even without those things done, I’m tickled to have this much done!
