Please, pretty please…. do me a small favor?

The theme for May NaBloPoMo is “voices”, as you’ve heard me mention already. And of course, May is the month of the “Mother”! So, I’m thinking - how special it could be to combine it ALL!

I’ve been alluding to something I was going to ask of each of you - my old friends, my new friends, my family that might be reading now - and anyone else that might happen by, to do something for me.

Many of us are either someone’s mother, daughter, sister, granddaughter OR we are related to a mother (by marriage) or we have some fabulous friends that are mothers. I know I have some FABULOUS friends that are wonderful mothers and I love to see them with their kids. To hear their words of wisdom and watch them interact.

I can remember things my mother said to me over the years that stand out, good or bad - but standing out, nonetheless in my memory. (More of those voices I hear in my head!) Or I hear things my sisters have said to their kids that I KNOW they got from our mom! It’s the same with my mother-in-law - she is a wonderful woman whom I dearly love and sometimes I listen to my husband talk to our girls and KNOW in my heart, he is repeating things that SHE taught him as a child. It is a wonderful circle of life.

So, here is my thought. I want to showcase “Motherhood” in a way. I would LOVE to invite you to be a “guest blogger” here this month. If you’d write me a story (it does NOT have to be long!) about a wonderful, meaningful, specific memory of yours - from your mother, from your mothering experience, something you’ve witnessed another mother do or say - any of it. I would love the opportunity to showcase YOUR voice. You can send it to me (luckydorito@gmail.com) to post here - and meanwhile, post it on your blog as well, if you want. We’ll cross-reference each others’ blogs so that anyone that wants to read more of YOU - can follow the link back to where you regularly post. For that matter, the post doesn’t have to be new - you could search your archives for one that fits the bill already written! Voila!

Ma, that means you too. (How great would that be for MY own mother to write something for me here? Please?) Lina, San, Cin - you are all mothers and we share the same one, right? So, this offer stands to YOU too! Please share something with me to post! I promise it’ll be fun! And, don’t say - “But, I can’t WRITE!” because I know you ALL can!
