Yes, ma’am, I agree

Posted by Dory @ Lucky Dorito on Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Saturday morning began slow and sweet at our house. It was a rainy, gloomy morning – perfect for sleeping late. IF you can sleep late, that is. I was up at my usual 5:30 am and sat quietly, drinking coffee and reading. I didn’t hear a peep out of the girls or my hubby for hours.

By the time mid-morning rolled around, my husband was in the kitchen, cooking breakfast. The girls were helping, while Bruce Springsteen blasted out of a cd player. I came downstairs after my shower to hear much singing. I stood in the doorway and watched the three of them for a moment, feeling particularly blessed.

I am not a big breakfast eater, at all. I usually don’t want to eat until I’ve been up for hours – while the rest of my family can eat the minute they crawl out of bed. (I suppose it’s a good thing I’m up so stinkin early all the time – because I’m ready to eat by the time the sleepyheads are making breakfast!) My husband has fallen in the habit of making a big breakfast on Saturdays – and I don’t complain. I love that he enjoys doing it! (I wish he’d get better at cleaning up his MESS because I always get stuck doing it but I guess that’s a small price to pay, right?)

Just as we were sitting down to eat, Beebo said, “Mom, I tell you what, you have one AWESOME husband, you know?”

I said, “Why YES, honey,  I sure do.”

What a wonderful Saturday morning you had. My man can’t cook, but he always cleans up. The laundry and dishes are his domain…thank God. lol
